Stopping is not the place to save money.

Pads and rotors wear out on every car, and they usually give you plenty of warning before they become expensive. A squeal that turns into a grind has already cost you a set of rotors on top of the pads.

We quote before we start and we will show you the worn parts if you want to see them. No job goes ahead on a maybe.

  • Brake pads and rotors

Supplied and fitted, then bedded in properly so they work from the first stop rather than the tenth.

  • Brake fluid change

Fluid absorbs moisture over time, which drops its boiling point and gives you a soft pedal when you need it most.

  • Handbrake adjustment

A common one on hinterland driveways, and a common reason a car fails an inspection.

  • Clutch replacement

Slipping, heavy or biting right at the top of the pedal. We will tell you what we find before anything is ordered.

  • Brake inspection

Pads, rotors, lines and fluid checked as part of every service, so you get warning before it becomes urgent.

Signs your brakes need attention

A squeal that comes and goes. A grinding noise, which usually means the pad is gone and the rotor is wearing. A pedal that feels soft or goes further than it used to. The car pulling to one side under brakes, or a shudder through the pedal when you slow from highway speed.

A brake warning light on the dash is worth a call the same day. If the pedal feels wrong, do not drive it in, ring us.

Clutch problems

A clutch tells you it is going before it fails: revs rising without matching speed, a bite point that has crept up, or a heavy pedal in traffic. Caught early it is a straightforward job, left alone it can take the flywheel with it.

Locals keep coming back for a reason.

Brakes & clutch, questions we get asked.

  • Anywhere from 30,000km to well over 60,000km depending on the vehicle, the pads and how you drive. Hills and towing wear them faster, which is worth knowing in the hinterland. We check them at every service and tell you how much is left.
